Bio:
George was elected MP for Mid Norfolk in 2010 after a 15 year career in biomedical venture capital. Formerly Director of Early Stage Ventures at Merlin Biosciences, CEO of Cambridge start-up Amedis Pharmaceuticals, and Founder and Chairman of specialist translational medicine consultancy 4D Biomedical Ltd.

He was elected and served for a brief spell on the Communities and Local Government Select Committee before his appointment as PPS to Gregory Barker MP, Minister of State for Climate Change. In July 2011 he was appointed Parliamentary Adviser on Life Sciences to David Willets MP, Minister of State at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.

In 2005 he took on Barbara Follett in the then Labour stronghold seat of Stevenage on a "Positive Politics" ticket, doubling the national swing and slashing the Labour majority from 8500 to 2900.

He has spoken and written widely on the potential of UK science, technology and entrepreneurship to lead a sustainable economic recovery. George is Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Science and Technology in Agriculture.
