Bio:
Mel is a vigorous local campaigner, being Co-Chairman of the Crediton Hospital Campaign Group and Governor of Okehampton College. Mel has also served on the Commission for Social Justice where he made key contributions in respect of voluntary organisations. As a hobby he is a qualified tourist guide (authorised to guide some of the country�s most important sites including the British Museum). In 2005 he won the Tourist Board 'Guide of the Year Award'. He is currently Personal Private Secretary to John Hayes as Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning.
