Before entering politics Claire had worked for Bank of America for three years then went on to receive an MBA from Harvard Business School. She then had a business career in the United States and Britain, working for McKinsey and Company and Credit Suisse after which she started her own small company offering financial advice for women. In 2007, she began working for George Osborne, now the Chancellor of the Exchequer. She is a member of the Justice Select Committee and Personal Parliamentary Secretary to Philip Hammond as Secretary of State for Defence.
