Bio:
Damian was elected as the MP for East Hampshire on May 6th 2010. He is also a member of the Education Select Committee responsible for scrutinising Government policy on education. Damian believes that education is the key to success for the individual, society as a whole and the economy. Damian also chairs the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Social Mobility and Credit Unions.

Before entering Parliament, Damian spent 18 years working in the pubs/brewing and hotel industries both in Britain and abroad.
Damian's degree is in politics, philosophy and economics and his secondary schooling was at St Ambrose Grammar School, Altrincham. He lives in Alton with his wife Jacqui (a schoolteacher whose own schooling was also in Alton) and children Kitty and Ted.

Damian is a former chairman of the Bow Group. He stood for parliament in 2005 (Stretford & Urmston). He has written a number of policy papers and articles. Areas of policy interest include education, social mobility, tackling poverty, and promoting business & enterprise; and he also has a special interest in affordable credit and sub-prime debt issues. In 2008 and 2009 he joined the Conservative Party's short volunteering projects in Rwanda.
