Bio:
Prior to his election Matthew worked in the family computer software business, as an economist at the Bank of England for five years and later as a senior economic adviser and Chief of Staff to George Osborne. In 2005 he was asked to lead George Osborne's team when Shadow Chancellor. He was the senior economic adviser to both George Osborne and David Cameron, and helped draft much of the Conservative Party economic policy. He is currently a member of the Public Accounts and Standard and Privileges Select Committees. He has also co-authored the book Masters of Nothing, with Nadim Zahawi MP.
